Gestalt therapy is a way of understanding and describing human experience so as to maximize awareness of creative possibilities. The foundations for this approach were presented in ‘Gestalt Therapy: Excitement and Growth in the Human Personality’, by Perls F., Hefferline R.F., Goodman P., 1951.Gestalt Therapy essentially offers support for the process of contacting and so creatively and aesthetically promotes awareness, presence and growth.There are many fields for its application: individual- and group development, psychotherapy, clinical psychology and psychiatry, organisations, arts, education, social and political activism.In the EAGT there are two professional sections:

Participation at the event is free of charge.
Purposes of the event:
- to bring into focus the social and political aspects of the COVID situation in relation to the psychotherapeutic work;
- to enlarge psychotherapists perception of how the social field influences the psychotherapic field;
- to exchange information regarding the COVID situation between colleagues from different European countries;
- to orient towards future: what we can do on the basis of the acquired information and data.
Expected outcomes:
- strengthening the collegial connections within EAGT;
- formation of a wider view and understanding of the COVID situation;
- sensitising to the important social and political aspects of the situation;
- individual and community mobilisation for actions needed in order to respond to the challenges, needs and demands of the situations in a creatively adjusted way.
The event will be divided in three parts.
In the first part we will have two presenters:
Vlasta Jalušič, a senior researcher at the Peace Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia (https://www.mirovni-institut.si/en/staff/vlasta-jalusic/). She has degrees in political science (PhD, University of Vienna), sociology and fine arts. She is the author of several books, articles, and book chapters on the women’s movement and feminism, gender and political theory, violence, war and collective crime – and a prominent connoisseur and translator of Hannah Arendt’s works.
Michele Settani, psychologist and gestalt psychotherapist, professor and researcher at the university from Italy will present on the evolution of the psychosocial / relational / psychopathological problems during pandemia in comparing the situation in different countries.
The second and the third part will be more interactive.
